Two trans-lesbian vampires, condemned to wander around a ruined theatre.They seem to play at burying themselves, at condolences for the punishment of carrying their bodies. They recreate their deaths, they fake them again so as not to forget that in life they are already dead. One says to the other: ‘Give me your love’. And the other replies: ‘There is none left. I just can’t help it, my nose is bleeding a lot, a lot, what’s wrong with me, I don’t understand, I was only thinking about you, I haven’t done anything else, why is my nose bleeding?!’

NOSFERATU: A SYMPHONY OF HORROR is a performing arts project that aims to revisit the original German film Nosferatu (Murnau, 1922) from a QUEER and trans-lesbian perspective. The project relates the expressionist vampiric phenomenon with the transfeminine and estrogenated body, updating the original film’s questions about sexual desire, terror to the body, social hunting and reproduction of the monster. This research is an exercise of re-appropriation of that which has always been ours: the horror film genre, for Queer liberation.

SARA MANUBENS is an artist, choreographer and transvestite in Barcelona. MA in Performing Arts Practice and Visual Culture (Museo Reina Sofía, ARTEA). Her work moves between site-specific, performance and dance and focuses on trans corporeality and its impact on reality. She has been developing her own creative processes since 2015.

Symphony of the Seas is an artistic project that begins its journey in 2017 and aims to take transvestite practice and identity from a choreographic, experimental and borderline viewpoint. Her artistic goal is to cross the methodologies of Live Arts Performance with trans topics and presences, placing a Queer logic in the choreographical production. These narratives are related to transition, violence on the transfeminine body, the transvestite image as a space of resistance against the institution, trans performativity as a political action, and horror as a process for collective liberation.

She has designed and executed Queer educational projects in different institutional programs and public schools, among them DRAG KIDS (2020), a family cross-dressing session, or TEEN HORROR (2022), a horror film with teenagers.

VES LIBERTA (Teresa Liberato) is a dancer and performer. She studied at O Corpo Da Dança – Torres Novas, ESD (Lisbon), and ECD course at AHK (Amsterdam). She followed the advanced program PACAP5, curated by João Fiadeir. She has participated in durational workshops with, Marcelo Evelin, Radouan Mriziga, Emmanuel Huynth, Antonija Livingstone and Emma Bigé, Vera Mantero, Yael Karavan, Nadia Beugré, Eleonora Fabião, Luara Raio and Acauã Elbandido and Liza Nelson. She studied the BioChá, Shirin Yoku and ZaZen methods with the author Zélia Sakai. As a creator she has developed work in the areas of performance and dance, she has presented her original pieces in Porta 6 Gallery, Museumplein (Amsterdam), Virgínia Theatre, TANTANTANN festival, Teatro do Bairro Alto. She participated as a performer in projects with Ana Borralho and João Galante, Clara Andermatt, Raimund Hoghe, Pedro Barreiro, Eduardo Batata and Dinis Machado.

NOSFERATU: A SYMPHONY OF HORROR is een performance-art project dat de originele Duitse film Nosferatu (Murnau, 1922) opnieuw wil bekijken vanuit een QUEER en trans-lesbisch perspectief. Het project verbindt het expressionistische vampierfenomeen met het transvrouwelijke en oestrogene lichaam en actualiseert de vragen van de originele film over seksueel verlangen, terreur jegens het lichaam, de sociale jacht en de voortplanting van het monster. “Dit onderzoek is een oefening in het opnieuw toe-eigenen van wat altijd van ons is geweest: het genre van de horrorfilm, voor queer bevrijding.”

SARA MANUBENS is kunstenaar, choreograaf en travestiet in Barcelona. Ze heeft een MA in Performing Arts Practice and Visual Culture (Museo Reina Sofía, ARTEA). Haar werk beweegt zich tussen site-specific, performance en dans en richt zich op translichamelijkheid en de impact daarvan op de werkelijkheid. Sinds 2015 ontwikkelt ze haar eigen creatieve processen.

NOSFERATU : A SYMPHONY OF HORROR est un projet d’arts scéniques qui vise à revisiter le film allemand Nosferatu (Murnau, 1922) d’un point de vue QUEER et translesbien. Le projet met en relation le phénomène vampirique expressionniste avec le corps transféminin et œstrogéné, en actualisant les questions du film original sur le désir sexuel, la terreur envers le corps, la chasse sociale et la reproduction du monstre. “Cette recherche est un exercice de réappropriation de ce qui nous a toujours appartenu : le genre du film d’horreur, pour la libération Queer.”

SARA MANUBENS est artiste, chorégraphe et travestie à Barcelone. Elle est titulaire d’une maîtrise en pratique des arts du spectacle et culture visuelle (Museo Reina Sofía, ARTEA). Son travail se situe entre le in situ, la performance et la danse et se concentre sur la trans-corporéité et son impact sur la réalité. Elle développe ses propres processus créatifs depuis 2015.

Symphony of the Seas est un projet artistique qui démarre en 2017 et qui vise à aborder la pratique et l’identité travesties d’un point de vue chorégraphique, expérimental et borderline. Son objectif artistique est de croiser les méthodologies du spectacle vivant avec des sujets et des présences trans, en plaçant une logique Queer dans la production chorégraphique. Ces récits sont liés à la transition, à la violence sur le corps transféminin, à l’image du travesti comme espace de résistance contre l’institution, à la performativité trans comme action politique, et à l’horreur comme processus de libération collective.

Sara a conçu et réalisé des projets éducatifs Queer dans différents programmes institutionnels et écoles publiques, parmi lesquels DRAG KIDS (2020), une séance de travestissement en famille, ou TEEN HORROR (2022), un film d’horreur avec des adolescents.

VES LIBERTA (Teresa Liberato) est danseuse et performeuse. Elle a étudié à O Corpo Da Dança – Torres Novas, ESD (Lisbonne), et au cours ECD à AHK (Amsterdam). Elle a suivi le programme PACAP5, sous la direction de João Fiadeir.
