Nabil Ennassouh

The story of an individual searching for themselves through the association of different senses (the smell of images, the sense of touch through the eyes) in an overstimulated space that resonates with the infinite layers of one’s identity.
In An attempt to make my body and its power a hospitable universe, Nabil Ennassouh wants to travel through stories, systems, people and previous generations imprinted on the skin. All those stories collided at some critical point and created a terrifying chaos in the span of his life. From there, images, flashbacks, mixtures of colours and smells [on their own] began to set up this Saturnian but revealing multi-sensory piece in the back of his mind.
Nabil Ennassouh is a self-taught movement practitioner interested in urban dance styles with rhythmic roots in North Africa through his background. In his artistic practice, he questions possible positions of bodies, their emancipations, their legitimacy and their vulnerabilities.
Ennassouh considers himself a dedicated practitioner of exaltation through movement. From 2022, he began exploring his performative potential and immersing himself in dance. He has collaborated with a.o.:Anthea Hamilton (Mashup/MHKA-Antwerp), Deena Abdelwaheed (Read The Room festival curated by Mophradat), Marco Torrice (Melting pot) and Fallon Mayanja.

Het verhaal van een individu dat zichzelf zoekt via de associatie van verschillende zintuigen (de geur van beelden, het gevoel van aanraking via de ogen) in een overprikkelde ruimte die resoneert met de oneindige lagen van iemands identiteit.
In An attempt to make my body and its power a hospitable universe, wil Nabil Ennassouh reizen door verhalen, systemen, mensen en vorige generaties die op zijn huid zijn ingeprent. Al die verhalen botsten op een kritiek moment in zijn leven en creëerden een angstaanjagende chaos. Van daaruit begonnen beelden, flashbacks, mengsels van kleuren en geuren [op eigen kracht] dit Saturnische maar onthullende multizintuiglijk stuk in het achterhoofd op te zetten.
Nabil Ennassouh is een autodidactische beweger die geïnteresseerd is in urban dansstijlen en met ritmische wortels in Noord-Afrika via zijn achtergrond. In zijn artistieke praktijk bevraagt hij mogelijke posities van lichamen, hun emancipatie, hun legitimiteit en hun kwetsbaarheden.
Ennassouh beschouwt zichzelf als een toegewijde beoefenaar van verheffing door beweging. Vanaf 2022 begon hij zijn performatieve potentieel te verkennen en zich te verdiepen in dans. Hij werkte samen met o.a. Anthea Hamilton (Mashup/MHKA-Antwerpen), Deena Abdelwaheed (Read The Room festival gecureerd door Mophradat), Marco Torrice (Melting pot) en Fallon Mayanja.

L’histoire d’un individu à la recherche de lui-même en associant différents sens (l’odorat des images, le toucher des yeux) dans un espace surstimulé qui résonne avec les couches infinies de son identité.
Dans An attempt to make my body and its power a hospitable universe, Nabil Ennassouh tente de voyager à travers les histoires, les systèmes, les gens et les générations précédentes qui se sont imprimés sur sa peau. Toutes ces histoires sont entrées en collision à un moment critique de sa vie, créant un chaos terrifiant. À partir de là, des images, des flashbacks, des mélanges de couleurs et d’odeurs ont commencé à mettre en place cette pièce multisensorielle saturnienne mais révélatrice au fond de son esprit.
Nabil Ennassouh est un performeur autodidacte qui s’intéresse aux styles de danse urbaine, avec des racines rythmiques en Afrique du Nord. Dans sa pratique artistique, il questionne les positions possibles des corps, leurs émancipations, leurs légitimités et leurs vulnérabilités.
Ennassouh se considère comme un praticien dévoué de l’élévation par le mouvement. Dès 2022, il a commencé à explorer son potentiel performatif et à s’immerger dans la danse. Il a collaboré avec des artistes tels que Anthea Hamilton (Mashup/MHKA-Anvers), Deena Abdelwaheed (Read The Room festival curated by Mophradat), Marco Torrice (Melting pot) et Fallon Mayanja.
