NL// In een onmiddellijk contact met het publiek verkent Somalia Williamson de wereld vanuit het perspectief van een universele figuur – de moeder – op zoek naar de weerspiegeling van pure onvoorwaardelijke liefde. Na een onderzoek van collectieve overlappende herinneringen met collega performers en makers, Alec De Bruyn, Gorik Elaut en Tijen Lawton, componeert ze een universeel verhaal over deze entiteit van verweven sensaties, emoties en inzichten die ons allen bindt.
MOTHER is een reflectie op menselijke interactie en verbinding in deze geglobaliseerde wereld en een poging om de myriade van artistieke media, perspectieven en stemmen samen te smelten.
Met haar specifieke kijk op de wereld, haar soulvolle stem en haar expressieve taal, roept Somalia op tot verbinding.
Tijdens WIPCOOP zal zij het concept van haar Work In Progress alleen presenteren.
Somalia Williamson behaalde een bachelor’s degree in performing arts aan de American Musical & Dramatic Academy, College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts NY/LA, en kwam in 2016 in Antwerpen wonen. Sindsdien werkte ze mee aan projecten van onder andere kunstZ, Froefroe, Amaj Productions en Rooftoptiger’s Babelbühne

EN// In an immediate contact with the audience, Somalia Williamson explores the world from the perspective of a universal figure – the mother – in search of the reflection of pure unconditional love. Succeeding a research of collective overlapping memories with fellow performers and creators, Alec De Bruyn, Gorik Elaut and Tijen Lawton, she composes a universal story about this entity of intertwined sensations, emotions and understandings that binds us all together.
MOTHER is a reflection on human interaction and connection in this globalised world and an attempt to meld together the myriad of artistic mediums, perspectives and voices.
With her specific view of the world, her soulful voice and her expressive language, Somalia calls for connection.
During WIPCOOP she will present the concept of her Work In Progress alone.
Somalia Williamson earned a bachelor’s degree in performing arts from the American Musical & Dramatic Academy, College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts NY/LA, and moved to Antwerp in 2016.
