RESIDENCES

In addition to networking and matchmaking, MAP also organizes several residencies per year – albeit in collaboration with other organizations. This way we remain directly involved in artistic practice, we can support artists in their further development and stimulate new collaborations.

With its residencies, MAP wants to offer artists from WIPCOOP space and time to deepen their work, take new paths, and discover together. We do this by guiding and providing artists with resources, allowing them to conduct in-depth research and creative experiments.

It is about more than just individual research; MAP is also about dialogue, collaboration and community building. Artists can experiment, gain new inspiration and further develop their artistic signature. With partners in various cities, MAP creates a broad, supportive community around art development, allowing artists and art organizations to inspire and learn from each other.

In 2023 we created a working document with tips and insights based on the experiences of our residencies between 2020 and 2023. This was partly fueled by our ‘BRAINS round table discussions’ (25/05/2023) with around 50 residents, artists and artworks. Together we discussed the art of development and residency. Their collected experiences certainly do not provide a final answer, but want to help everyone ask the right questions.
