A behind-the-scenes look at Schaduwvliegjes, a musical black comedy by Fikry El Azzouzi starring Enrique Noviello, Chaib Idrissi and scenographer/visual artist Younes Van den Broeck.
In Schaduwvliegjes, two absurd creatures feed on corpses. The tastes and smells tell them how each died. Pneumonia, a heart attack, or a ticket out of the cancer raffle. These conditions do not seem to bother them. But with tasting their final emotions, they have a much harder time. Especially anxiety, anger, depression and loneliness. That puts them off their game completely. Those smells not only make you nauseous, they make you trippy and hallucinate.
Have we underestimated this world of feelings?
Are emotions more dangerous than diseases?
And how fundamentally can they undermine us as beings?
Fikry El Azzouzi wrote new lyrics for these two performers. Both actors exude a raw energy, have menacing charisma but disarm through their humor and laughter. Scenic designer Younes van den Broeck’s style fits seamlessly with this subject and duo of performers.
