Désintégration Culturelle – written, created and choreographed by Nadine Baboy – questions identity, heritage and cultural membership in a cosmopolitan society. The performance takes the audience on a journey where poetry, music and dance interact. You are completely immersed in the universe of Nadine and her performers. Through a mix of styles and artistic disciplines, the piece expresses a contemporary vision of métissage.

What is special about this performance is its dynamic nature: a live performance that is not limited by a classical setup with a seated audience. The artists take the audience on a walk through the space(s) in which they seek proximity, taking them from one universe to another. Désintégration Culturelle can take place in various on and off-stage locations (hallways, stairs, halls, bars, etc.) as spaces for performance and artistic encounters. With Désintégration Culturelle, you dive into the heart of a show whose every performance is unique and whose audience is an integral part of the performance.

Nadine Baboy is a Belgian-Congolese artist with a passion for performing arts. As a dancer, choreographer, actress and poet, she draws her inspiration from artistic and cultural blends. She participated in several dance theater projects that fuse movement and words. Among other things, she shines in the musical L’Homme de La Mancha by KVS and De Munt. Her passion for dance translates into a hybrid form that blends various hip-hop, dancehall and contemporary afro styles. In her powerful lyrics, she broaches striking themes that link her African roots with her European roots.

Désintégration Culturelle was shown as WORK IN PROGRESS November 2018 and went into PREMIUM 23.11.2019 during WIPCOOP 2019 in KVS
