Wednesday, Oct. 26 and Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022, Désirée Cerocien, Eli Mathieu-Bustos, Lorena Spindler, Alex Masgutov, Naïm Belhaloumi and Emiliano Cedillo will each present a maximum of 30 minutes from their WORK IN PROGRESS. Afterwards, they will spend 1 hour in conversation with a company of dramaturgs, workshops, producers and programmers about the work shown and possible support. During these breaks – Artist Talks – other artists share news about their work or new projects with the audience.
Naïm Belhaloumi mixes movement, music and theater. Starting from a sense of desolation, he examines the ecstasy before the catastrophe through some legends.
With FREE DANCE ESCAPE, Lorena Spindler brings together dancers from different disciplines in a space – a safe, imaginary and supportive zone – in which they explore connection with the other. The inspiration and basis for FREE DANCE ESCAPE stems from a TikTok video.
Through circus and theater, Emiliano Cedillo questions identity and society. In his first solo, LA PAUVRETÉ DES PAUVRES FAIT LA RICHESSE DES RICHES, he combines juggling, acrobatics, art cycling and theater.
Eli Mathieu-Bustos is a choreographer and performer whose physical virtuosity allows him to transcend the political identities that define him. HAVE A SAFE TRAVEL is part of an investigation into the alliance between astrology and dance. From De Caelo technique, Eli shows a first stage of this solo.
Alex Masgutov depicts the story of a young couple in today’s world. From global warming to the pressures of success… SAFE IN THE HANDS OF LOVE ? A multidisciplinary performance in which “loving the other contributes to loving yourself” and “the intimate is political & the political is intimate.
THE SECRET CYCLES is an examination of non-Western dance codes, musicality, folklore and togetherness as a social practice of care, joy and survival. Désirée Cerocien presents the first part of a veritable trilogy. THE SECRET CYCLES PART 1 : LA FIESTA DE LA DELFINA takes you to a birthday party somewhere in Latin America.
