It is an artistic project that emerged from the research that gave birth to ‘urban dramaturgy’. It is a form of dramaturgy where cities are considered as living and perfect texts that we can approach and try to interpret. It is considered that every creation is related to the context, which always has a dramaturgical impact on every work. MAPping is based on the idea that cities do not exist, but are the result of the performance of all those who inhabit and use them. Without these daily performances the city becomes a meaningless scenography. Every day we move through cities and what we do or don’t do helps to build them and give them meaning. In each city where we did a MAPping we formed a temporary company with representatives of different artistic disciplines present in the city. A joint research was carried out with this diverse group and the more diverse the group, the richer the result. Finally we created a publication, a performance in the public space and a digital tour. The first MAPping took place in Antwerp in 2012. We also did it in Mechelen and Brussels. The working method is used for workhops and other artistic creations.
