Dec. 4 during WIPCOOP Gent at CAMPO Victoria, Aday Morales, Aminata Soumaré, Shivadas De Schrijver and Hannah Jamin Zaouad will each show a Work in Progress of up to 30 minutes.
Get ready for a day covering a wide range of themes including: relational and political power, dancing sounds and hushed rhythms, echoes of a sectarian past, the dark side of tourism, music once silenced and the power of memory.
Each presentation will be followed by a small-group discussion with some people from the arts sector. As an audience, during those breaks you will slide into the table with Joana Rossi to talk about the work on display or reflect on the work with Enrica Camporesi in the “in-between spaces.
During WIPCOOP, these creators offer a glimpse into their creative quest and the stories they want to tell.
What the WIP? WIPCOOP brings an annual Work In Progress program in a philosophy that focuses on collaboration and long-term commitments. The WIPCOOP days mark the start of development trajectories that many organizations are committed to working on together with MAP.
4 X WORK IN PROGRESS
04.12.2025 @ CAMPO VICTORIA I 09:30 – 16:30
Shivadas De Schrijver – Ballast
Ballast examines the impact of oppressive relationships and power structures – both political and relational. Shivadas De Schrijver starts from their own experience in a spiritual community, where devotion and manipulation came together.
The performance unfolds as a ritual of surrender and liberation, in a hushed scenography of rubber, light and sound. Every gesture, every touch, makes the tension between power, resistance and restoration palpable.
Concept and acting: Shivadas De Schrijver – Music: Jan D’Haene – Scenography: Jana Roos
About the creator
Shivadas De Schrijver (they/them) is a performance artist and videographer with a background in dance. Their work moves between image and movement, between surrender and observation. With Ballast, Shivadas takes another step in a series of investigative, physical performances around spirituality, power and liberation.
Hannah Jamin Zaouad – Hoe zeg je “kom terug”? (How do you say “come back”?)
A poetic documentary about the Rif – the land of Hannah’s ancestors – in which the encroaching tourist industry, migration and language are redrawing the region’s identity. How do you say “come back”? explores what home means, past and present, and how memory and displacement come together.
Through a multilingual lens of Dutch, French, Spanish, Darija and Tamazight, Hannah shows how collective and personal memories create a place even as the landscape is constantly changing.
Concept, text and acting: Hannah Jamin Zaouad – Coaching: Silke Huysmans & Hannes Dereere – Dramaturgy: Zindzi Tillot Owusu Leel-össy Stevens – With thanks to Gouvernement, Citylab/Pianofabriek, Ultima Vez – With support from the Flemish Government and MESTIZO ARTS PLATFORM / WIPCOOP

Aday Morales – Mencey Loco
In Mencey Loco, Aday Morales delves into Tenerife’s forgotten history. Inspired by the once-censored album La Cantata del Mencey Loco, he dances the last revolt of the Guanches – the original inhabitants of the Canary Islands – against Spanish colonial rule.
Aday interweaves these historical echoes with contemporary questions about mass tourism and cultural alienation. His work explores resistance and recovery, and how identity and collective memory can resonate powerfully in a globalized world.
Concept, choreography and dance: Aday Morales – Coach: Ido Batash – With support from MESTIZO ARTS PLATFORM / WIPCOOP – Thanks to: CAMPO

Aminata Soumaré – VOI(X)E
VOI(X)E is an intuitive dance performance in which breath, voice and rhythm dialogue with each other. Four dancers explore the boundary between chaos and calm, body and voice, rhythm and groove.
