With pride and – already – a touch of nostalgia, we look back at our ninth edition WIPCOOP Brussels, @KVS – a pictorial report by the amazing Victoriano Moreno.
On Oct. 16, Julia Färber Data, Kongi Milka Mbunga, Alphonse Eklou Uwantege, Souhaïla Amri and Nastasya Kharitonova each showed 30 minutes of their performances-in-progress. The KVS BOX was filled to the brim with a raving audience. Yes, the Brussels scene really came through! We shared, danced, laughed and cried. Sometimes difficult, but always valuable conversations were held, connections made and bridges built. It was an unforgettable day!
As only Manu Moreau can, he presented the event with flair (and switched effortlessly between English, Dutch and French). Feedforward discussions took place between performances. Under the watchful eye of Tine and with Mulanga as moderator, the artists engaged in dialogue with a diverse group of cultural workers, including producers, programmers, dramaturges, choreographers and workshops. For the first time, the “ordinary” Brussels audience could also participate in parallel feedback sessions – and with great success! Junior Akwety led these roundtable discussions in his own way, giving the artists valuable input not only from professionals but also from the audience.
During the breaks, we were inspired by pitches from Lorena Spindler and Hafsa Aqqal and enjoyed tasty soup provided by our host KVS.
Merci merci merci ❤️ to everyone who contributed to this beautiful day: to the blissful KVS-team for the fine welcome and support in production, presenter Manu Moreau and pitchers Lorena Spindler and Hafsa Aqqal, to Victoriano Moreno for the stunning photos, Thijs Paijmans for the video capture (and aftermovie to follow soon) and to Junior Akwety for leading the roundtable discussions. And of course merci to the artists who presented their WIPs and to the enthusiastic audience and professionals for sharing their feedback and insights.
We are incredibly looking forward to exploring next steps with the artists! We’ll keep you posted 🤙
