Meet the new artists for WIPCOOP Work In Progress Antwerp

This autumn, you will discover which new Work In Progress 6 artists(collectives) from Antwerp want to create about: migration, transformation, integration, stereotypes on masculinity, the human psyche up to experiments with image, sound and the body.

So, save the dates for a look at what is cooking and unfolding in Antwerp’s artistic scene.

Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 November 2022 in total 6 artists or collectives will each show a maximum of 30 minutes of their WORK IN PROGRESS. Afterwards, they will talk for one hour with a group of dramaturges, workshops, producers and programmers about the work shown and possible support. During these breaks – Artist Talks – other artists share news about their work or new projects with the audience.

Ivan Farinha & Carlos Dias present TRANS TERMINOS a dance theatre about perseverance.

Louai Hashem, Saif Salloomi & Mustafa Aldoujaily a collective of young artists present a first version of IT’S (NEVER) FUCKED UP a semi autobiographical performance about finding your place in a new society in which positive as well as negative experiences recur and where sometimes tragic situations hide a comical element.

With BELGIJSKI PROBLEEM Paula Kopczyk is working on a tragicomic monologue about the psyché of human beings, about the way we look at the world and the fact that we often misinterpret it.
Basim Akasha and Nasser Mardnly co-direct 3D, a performance dealing with the challenges and inner struggles a newcomer has to face while trying to integrate into a society that often seems strange to him.

Alex Deijmann is currently brainstorming for THE SMACK UP/REAL MEN, a dance performance that breaks open stereotypes around men and sets out a spectrum of masculinity: hard and soft, pink and blue, round and prickly, cold and warm, emotional and controlled.

For TALK ABOUT A BLACK CAT, WITHOUT TALKING ABOUT CATS Timur Magomedhadzhiev & Jesús Ubera Biedma join forces and experiment with images, sound and the body as a methodology to express their response to the echo of reality.

Work In Progress runs during the day and entrance is free.
