RETINA MANEUVER – PING HSIANG WANG

08/03/2024 >> 15/03/2026
@ Antwerp @ Berlin @ Brussels

When “Girl on Fire” is no longer just a pop song but a marching tune for soldiers going to war, Ping-Hsiang Wang wonders, will his fragile memories then be destroyed by the fire of war? Retina Maneuver is a solo lecture-performance that springs from Ping’s inexplicable obsession with Alicia Keys’ pop song “Girl On Fire”

double bill: KIDNAPPED + RETINA MANEUVER

21/02/2025 >> 22/02/2024
@ Brussels

KIDNAPPED is a work in progress for a speculative metaphor: in our illusory world of neoliberal “freedom,” we are all, in a sense, kidnapped.

In Retina Maneuver, Ping-Hsiang Wang explores how Taiwanese millennials’ perspectives on conscription and military violence have evolved over the past decade – all through a queer lens.

KHEIR INCH’ALLAH – Yousra Dahry / Mohamed Ouachen

12/11/2024 >> 04/12/2024
@ Brussels

Yousra, 33, looks back with humor and tenderness on the upbringing her father gave her.
An education grafted onto another equally important school of learning: Drarism, the mentality of young people from working-class neighborhoods, the Draris.

HAVE A SAFE TRAVEL – Eli Mathieu Bustos

17/01/2025 >> 05/09/2025
@ Antwerp @ Berlin @ Brussels @ Ghent

Have a Safe Travel tells the story of a train ride.
That ride could be banal.
Until three policemen stop Eli Mathieu-Bustos and ask for his passport.

16/10/2024 >> 21/11/2024
@ Brussels

TO WRITE MY LIFE – Hafsa Aqqal

28/11/2024 >> 26/04/2025
@ Brussels

TO WRITE MY LIFE reveals forgotten history stories with sincerity and humor. Two actresses, Hafsa Aqqal and Oumoul Kairy Diallo share both real and invented stories.
They highlight the story of Omar Ibn Saïd, a scholar from Futa Toro in present-day Senegal who was enslaved in the United States in the 18th century.

VIER MUREN – Marios Bellas

04/10/2025 >> 05/06/2026
@ Antwerp @ Brussels @ Ghent @ Kortijk @ Leuven @ Mechelen @ Ostend

A hip-hop ritual that creates space for the anger, fear, mourning, celebration and hope that comes with the loss of an old world and the welcoming of an unknown future. A bizarre musical mix of hip-hop mantras, slam choruses, screeching guitars, banging drums and freestyle prophecies.
