April 20-22, 2021 WIPCOOP lands for a first edition at CC Mechelen with Work In Progress by Vianney Adriaens, Caja Manga Collectief and Anke Somers & Mélissa Diarra. They are showing up to 30 minutes of their Work In Progress during WIPCOOP Mechelen. This edition – originally scheduled for December 2020 – will also switch to PLAN B(ehinddoors) despite the postponement. The discussion of the WORK In PROGRESS, interesting contacts and avenues for further development and support takes place in adapted form and in accordance with the guidelines.
1 x Work In Progress – 20.04 @ CC Mechelen
Vianney Adriaens – LAST WORDS is a theatrical monologue that brings together the meaningful last words of “death row criminal” Napoleon Beazley, Burkinese President Thomas Sankara and African-American hip-hopper XXXTencacion. All three felt their end was approaching with certainty. All three wanted to give the world one more message in the final moments of their hotly debated lives.
Vianney Adriaens mixes the last words of these three iconic African men together into a raw, intense monologue about society and power, ambitions and illusions, love and hate.
The lost African dream takes center stage, and Adriaens masterfully switches between three charismatic characters.

2 x Work In Progress – 22.04 @ CC Mechelen
Caja Manga Collectief – IN BETWEEN is about a special place. Two sisters contemplate their mortality and end up in a spacy trip through their memories. A chocolate fountain, a car-free world, a skeleton in a box.
Collectief Caja Manga Collectief is a company of young creators.
With In Between, their second performance, they delve into the crossover between theater & cinema.
Play: Charlotte Verdick, Jilly Lukkesen / Direction: Lorena Pires / Technical direction: Bernard Peeters / Film for the WIP: Aron Quadu / Costume & scenography: Caja Manga Collective / With the support of RADAR Mechelen, WIPCOOP/MESTIZO ARTS PLATFORM
Anke Somers & Mélissa Diarra – PARASITE PARADISE Earthly Paradise. White beaches, swaying palm trees, sweet fruits galore. These images may well come to mind. But does such a perfect, carefree place actually (still) exist? And where exactly can you find it? Two completely different women find each other along the way. Both are searching for Paradise on Earth. But their journey comes to an end when they fall into a deep pit. It is cold, empty and the water has a strange taste. With a memorecorder to hold on to, they try to come to grips with what is happening to them. Until the bubbling world that was present all along turns out to tell its own stories. It demands its role and control and is not content to merely act as a backdrop for humans. Parasite Paradise arose from a fascination with landscapes, first degraded by man, then abandoned as empty ruins. Landscapes that are then revived in extraordinary ways and form new ecologies. Parasite Paradise wonders hopefully if the relationship between man and nature can be restored.
