Introducing Lila Magnifique

Dancer & choreographer Lila Magnin, as Lila Magnifique, explores the possibilities of everything that “gives life to what you hear” and vice versa.
During the Shared Practices residency, she delves into new research.

This time she focuses on music. In a hybrid experiment into storytelling about music and the body, she looks for connections. What gives life to what you hear and conversely, how does what you hear shape life? And how do you bring the hybrid of music, text and dance to the stage?

With laptop and keyboard, Lila Magnifique travels to Corso, Rataplan and Monty starting March 13 to bring pre-existing musical ideas to life.As she explores the correlations between music, text, dance and meaning, she develops a discourse about her practice. She begins with 5 songs named after existing or mythological female figures. For each, she explores a theme either related to: the meaning of their name, their characteristics or their story. The piece will be “an extension of the physical person who actually existed, an homage to them.” And – by name – be seen as a life-filled entity. With a life path of its own, separate from its maker. Exactly the same as her child would be. Writing history.

May their names be said, heard and remembered.
