Aline Olmos Steler searches for oracular insights in a place we rarely look. Where others find meaning in coffee grounds, stars or palms, The Origin of the Future invites a more intimate form of divination: in our underpanties. What can it reveal if we dare to look?
I went to the toilet.
And something significant was unfolding before my eyes during that encounter.
I looked closer, and I saw it:
her dress, her hair, the smoke coming out of her pipe.
Her position was strategic. Small. Like a painted ghost on a 5-by-7-centimeter cotton fabric.
I remembered that I had just put a lot of underwear into the washing machine.
I went back and checked.
Hygiene wash mode: ON.

Not a trace of them would survive.
*Vaginal-Discharge-mancy is a forgotten divinatory art that finds, in this performance, a space for manifestation.
