reste(s) is an intimate tribute to my uncle, Alphonse Kanimba, who was killed during the genocide against the Tutsi in April 1994.
In this solo, I explore what we carry with us from previous generations — the stories and traumas passed down to us, whether we want them or not.
reste(s) is about heritage, family ties, and the traces people leave behind. About names, memories, history. About wandering souls that keep haunting us.
Through dance, text and whispers, a dialogue with the past emerges — with what we want to hold on to, and what we’d rather leave by the side of the road.
And at the same time, one question rises: who do we actually mean by “we”?
