I’ll be there for you (for me) explores the Western culture of self versus our need for connection.
Lorena Spindler confesses her ambiguity in the face of the prevailing system ( ka-pi-ta-lism), her desire to be a part of it, her fear of stepping out of it and the despondency it evokes, and invites performers to explore these contradictions.
They come from different (in)disciplines – contemporary dance, hip-hop, breakdance, sabar, theater (…) – and offer a transdisciplinary performance that is perfectionist-creative-cute-care-egotrip-communitarian. Their regenerating presence shakes up the fear-inducing, isolating but attractive fable of life based on self-development. Searching for how our struggles are recovered by the system, she looks for possible dissent in complicit relationships, in our calls to joy, in our listening practices through dance and in our shared well-being.
