KIDNAPPED – A PROLOGUE
RODRIGO BATISTA & MARIANA SENNE / MESTIZO ARTS PLATFORM, WIPCOOP & CAMPO
KIDNAPPED is a Work In Progress for a speculative metaphor: in our illusory world of neoliberal “freedom,” we are all, in a sense, kidnapped. Swept along by ideologies, identities, technologies, political systems, predatory relationships, competition, capital and structural inequalities… In other words, we are abducted by the deep-rooted subconscious of colonialism and capitalism, caught between the concrete absurdity of globalized macropolitics and the ambiguous, and often elitist, desire for solutions at the micropolitical level.
RETINA MANEUVER
PING-HSIANG WANG / TATWERK | PERFORMATIVE FORSCHUNG
At the last edition of WIPCOOP, Ping-Hsiang Wang made herself noticed with this multimedia solo lecture performance. In Retina Maneuver, he explores how Taiwanese millennials’ perspectives on conscription and military violence have evolved over the past decade – all through a queer lens. On stage, he delves into his digital archives to uncover his inexplicable obsession with the iconic pop song Girl On Fire… The deeper he digs, the more memories surface of his time in the Taiwanese army a decade ago.
