Work In Progress: WIPCOOP BXL 2023

Already the 8th edition Work In Progress in Brussels! An excellent opportunity for the arts sector and the public to have a look at what is brewing and developing in terms of new artistic creations in the performing arts!

It will be a special edition. Not only artists from Brussels but also from Amsterdam, Barcelona and Berlin will share a WORK IN PROGRESS this year with an audience of both professionals and interested viewers.

Get ready for a 2-day with no less than 8 new WORK IN PROGRESS.

At KVS, Thursday 19 October, 4 Brussels artists and Friday 20 October, 1 Brussels, 1 Amsterdam, 1 Berlin and 1 Barcelona artist will show where they stand with the development of their new creations. Hafsa Aqqal, Eyas Almokdad, Augusto Pedraza, Nabil Ennassouh, Justine Theizen (Brussels), Sara Manubens in collab with Ves Liberta (Barcelona), Melisa Diktaş (Amsterdam), Wang Ping-Hsiang (Berlin) will each present a maximum of 30 minutes from their WORK IN PROGRESS. Afterwards, they will enter into a 1-hour discussion with a group of dramaturgists, workshops, producers and programmers about the work shown and possible support. During these breaks, other artists talk about their work, new initiatives or projects in artist talks with the audience.

From 2023, Mestizo Arts Platform will also launch a collaboration with Right About Now (Amsterdam), Tatwerk (Berlin) and Nau Ivanow (Barcelona) to foster exchange and opportunities for artists from these urban contexts.

WIPCOOP – the Work In Progress Cooperative of Mestizo Arts Platform – has for many years been a unique collaboration in the arts sector in Antwerp, Brussels and Ghent, more recently in Mechelen and now also in Leuven.

Its main goal? Making new artistic work visible from the strength of the cooperative, setting up dialogue around it and matching artists and organisations to be able to further develop and play and spread this work when finished.

WIPCOOP = making space for new voices, stories, forms and languages in the performing arts. An inter-city co-production in which the arts sector keeps its finger on the pulse of what is developing in the rich breeding ground of our cities and a network in which artists find support in developing their work. A win-win, in other words.

The Work In Progress takes place during the day and is free of charge. Doors: 9h30.
