Work In Progress: WIPCOOP 2022 – Antwerp

Find out what is being prepared and developed in the Antwerp artistic scene!

Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th of November, Ivan Rodrigues Farinha, Louai Hashem, Saif Salloomi & Mustafa Aldoujaily, Paula Kopczyk, Basim Akasha & Nasser Mardnly, Alex Deijman and Timur Magomedgadzhiev & Tamayo Okano will show a preview of the new work they are developing.

Each of them shows up to 30 minutes of their WORK IN PROGRESS. This will be followed by a discussion with a group of dramaturges, coaches, producers and programmers about the work presented and possible support. During these breaks, other artists will tell the audience about their new initiatives or projects in Artist Talks.

Join us! Welcome to WIPCOOP ANTWERP at ARENBERG, for a mix of theatre, dance and multidisciplinary work! On the menu, stage creations in development about: migration, transformation, integration, stereotypes about masculinity, the human psyche to experiments with image, sound and the body …

08.11 >  DANCE & MULTIDISCIPLINARY WORK

11:30 – 12:00 // Alex Deijmann is creating THE SMACK UP/REAL MEN, a dance performance that breaks open stereotypes about men and explores a spectrum of masculinity: hard and soft, pink and blue, round and prickly, cold and warm, emotional and controlled.

12:00 – 13:30 // Artist Talk & lunch break

13:30 – 14:00 // PARLE MOI DE TOI is a Work In Progress by Timur Magomedgadzhiev & Tamayo Okano. An experiment
with sound, space and the body as a methodology to express their response to the echo of reality. An investigation into the past and memories.

14:00 – 15:00 // Artist Talk

15:00 – 15:30 // Ivan Farinha presents TRANS TERMINOS a dance theatre about perseverance.

09.11 > THEATER

13:30 – 14:00 // Basim Akasha & Nasser Mardnly direct 3D, a performance about the challenges and inner struggles a newcomer faces when trying to integrate into a society that at many times seems strange to him.
