PLAYS: NZELA NA NGAI – Tister Ikomo

Nzela Na Ngai = My Parcours. In this triptych, you will travel from Kinshasa ‘La Belle’ to Belgium. A dance performance about trials, transformation and struggle for recognition. Through waste transformed into rhythmic percussion, traditional and contemporary dances and music, Tister Ikomo tells a personal story.

As part of Family Sunday, Tister will give a free percussion and dance workshop for children aged 10-12 before the performance.

Tister Ikomo is a dancer, choreographer and musician who toured the different provinces in Congo to study the rich tradition of Congolese dances. In Kinshasa, he is assistant choreographer of the artistic company Arumbaya. Among others, he also worked with Alain Platel and Fabrizio Cassol as a dancer and percussionist for Sidi Larbi.
