NOORD/SUL is a solo, in which Mano Amaro makes a journey from his personal history. A journey from his ancestors in Africa, via the Portuguese slave trade to his birthplace Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil to his current residence in Antwerp.
A story about migration, cultural heritage, tradition, segregation and identity, interspersed with suffering, trial and error, faith, resistance and survival instinct. A visual story with music, words, Afro-Brazilian and contemporary dance and the carnival as a connecting element.
