B**** (pronounced BITCH) brings together hip-hop, Cambodian temple dance, Japanese culture and martial arts. It is a search for the sources of anger, to better exorcise it, or to catalyse its energy. B**** is a solo performance that invites the audience to visit the shadow side of the character on stage.
Yipoon Chiem‘s performance gives her a place as a woman, as a political refugee, as a mother, as a traumatised child… in a community where appearance is important, and where the right to be oneself is often censored, merely by being a woman.
B**** is “bitch” written in a censored way: it remains above all a satire, a way of ironising the status of women and making the objectification of the female image absurd. The result is an autobiographical and choreographic striptease, but also an invitation to come closer to oneself.
Yipoon Chiem is the Asian hip-hop cousin of Lara Croft. (…) Yiphun Chiem dances to fall, inventing the “pass-pass” (knitting the legs on the ground while supporting the body with the arms) whose virtuosity escapes the eye. Her lithe movements, her speed, even in the details, are hallucinatory, transforming her movement into a series of luminous ellipses. A “bastard dance” without fear of any risks.

Yipoon Chiem draws her originality from the practice of martial arts such as Kung-fu and classical Khmer dance. By learning hip hop and break dance (1st Best Belgium Girl 2004), she creates her own style, a true fusion of several influences. But she has no limits in her fertile creativity, she sharpens her interpretation accuracy in both dance and music. Multi-disciplinary with a creative spirit, she doesn’t limit herself to dance, but she also collaborates with music.
