#WIPCOOP 2021

In an immediate contact with the audience, Somalia Williamson explores the world from the perspective of a universal figure – the mother – in search of the reflection of pure unconditional love. After exploring collective overlapping memories with fellow performers and creators, Alec De Bruyn, Gorik Elaut and Tijen Lawton, she composes a universal story about this entity of interwoven sensations, emotions and insights that binds us all.

MOTHER is a reflection on human interaction and connection in this globalized world and an attempt to merge the myriad of artistic mediums, perspectives and voices. With her specific world view, soulful voice and expressive language, Somalia calls for connection.

During WIPCOOP, she will present the concept of her Work In Progress alone. Somalia Williamson received a bachelor’s degree in performing arts from the American Musical & Dramatic Academy, College and Conservatory of the Performing Arts NY/LA, and came to live in Antwerp in 2016. Since then she has worked on projects by kunstZ, Froefroe, Amaj Productions and Rooftoptiger’s Babelbühne MOTHER, among others, wa featured as Work In Progress 09.11.2021 – Arenberg. In collaboration with artZ.
