Kristin no té por is a personal but collective theater solo within the broader project A One-and-Many Womxn Show. Inspired by philosophical and art historical research on female archetypes and stereotypes, and by her method of dream dramaturgy, Kristin Rogghe explores through a multilingual performance how conditioning and internalized gender roles shape womxn’s lives.
The project revolves around dismantling unconscious patterns and finding a new balance, through playful improvisation and psychosomatic practices. In this 30-minute Work In Progress, Kristin plays solo, supported by live direction by Frédérique Lecomte, in a mix of Spanish, French, English, Catalan and Dutch (depending on context and audience).
The work continues to evolve toward a full-fledged performance – the first in a series of multilingual (solo) performances Kristin is cocreating through workshops with other womxn from diverse backgrounds, inspired by their biographies and dream worlds. The project is both performance and process: a healing and transformative experience for the makers, participants and audience alike.
Kristin Rogghe is a Brussels-based dramatist, performer, transdisciplinary artist and researcher. Since 2022, she combines performing arts and dream work to explore inner territories. This is what she calls “dream dramaturgy,” a practice that works with dreams as a gateway to the individual and collective unconscious, opening up a space for regenerative conversation and intuitive (co)creation. This methodology forms the basis of her recent creations. Before that, she worked as house dramaturg at Theater ARSENAAL in Mechelen (2010-2015) and as city dramaturg at KVS Brussels (2016-2022).
Kristin holds a degree in philosophy from the universities of Leuven and Lisbon (2005) and a degree in transmedia from the LUCA School of Arts in Brussels (2007). She received a fellowship to deepen her practice in Documentary Arts at UnionDocs in New York (2010). Her audiovisual works and installations have been presented internationally, from Kinshasa to San Francisco. Consistently exploring art’s potential for social transformation, her work evolves from a deep examination of collaborative creation across boundaries – be they mental, social, geographical or disciplinary.
This project partly developed through residencies and workshops at Art Dance Center (Palma), Es Clot d’En Font (rural Mallorca) and during the Encuentros del Círculo Rojo. For future episodes of A One-and-Many Womxn Show, Kristin is collaborating with Argentine dancer and choreographer Natalia Lopez Santa Cruz and Persian singer and musician Pegah Khoei (both based in Mallorca), among others.
