#WIPCOOP 2019

A poetic dance solo about the significance of dance as a keeper of cultural identity.

NOORD/SUL is a solo, in which Mano Amaro takes a journey from his personal history. A journey from his ancestors in Africa, through the Portuguese slave trade to his birthplace Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil to his current home in Antwerp. A story about migration, cultural heritage, lore, segregation and identity, laced with suffering, trial and error, faith, resistance and survival. A visual narrative with music, words, Afro-Brazilian and contemporary dance and the carnival as a connecting element.
