What is reality anyway? WAKE UP seeks to answer that famous question people ask themselves throughout their lives. Through the various stages of spiritual awakening, the choices between good and evil, a character caught between the real world and the dream, WAKE UP aims to interactively make the audience think carefully about what they are experiencing.

In WAKE UP, Bilge addresses themes of self-reflection, meaning and identity formation. A character awakens each time with a different story, each time reflecting on people, existence, love, illusion, pain, happiness and ego. A conversation with the inner voice as it were. A voice we too often ignore.

WAKE UP is a journey into the magical and mysterious inner world of man. Because the meaning of life is more than paying bills, doing things that don’t make us happy and getting excited about little things.Everyone questions himself from time to time, reflects or laughs every now and then, and who knows will find his answer after seeing this creation.

Who knows, no matter what happens, this game will one day find its purpose somewhere. That’s what I want to believe

Bilge Arkac is a theater-pantomime artist and yoga instructor, born in Belgium but raised in Istanbul. Passionate about the arts since a young age, she took numerous courses such as modern dance, painting, piano and voice training. At 17, she spent a year in Belgium, working for the Brussels-based Binfikir Turkish Theater.In 2012, she returned to Istanbul to study Pantomime at the State Conservatory of Istanbul University where she graduated in 2016.During her studies, she did street theater, staged her own pantomime performances, participated in performative art projects and worked with an inclusive theater company for people with disabilities. Three years ago she settled back in Ghent where she works as a yoga instructor and barista while continuing to write and develop new artistic work. I think that every art project is an external reflection of the artist’s inner world, and I believe it’s time for me to meet the outside world.
