NOSFERATU: A SYMPHONY OF HORROR is a performance-art project that seeks to revisit the original German film Nosferatu (Murnau, 1922) from a QUEER and trans-lesbian perspective. Connecting the expressionist vampire phenomenon with the trans-feminine and estrogenic body, the project updates the original film’s questions of sexual desire, terror toward the body, social hunting and the reproduction of the monster. “This investigation is an exercise in re-appropriating what has always been ours: the horror film genre, for queer liberation. “

SARA MANUBENS is an artist, choreographer and transvestite in Barcelona. She has an MA in Performing Arts Practice and Visual Culture (Museo Reina Sofía, ARTEA). Her work moves between site-specific, performance and dance and focuses on trans-bodiedness and its impact on reality. She has been developing her own creative processes since 2015. Symphony of the Seas is an artistic project starting in 2017 that focuses on transvestite practice and identity from a choreographic, experimental and borderline perspective. Her artistic goal is to intersect the methodologies of Live Arts Performance with trans subjects and presences, placing a queer logic into choreographic production. These stories are related to transition, violence on the transwoman body, the transvestite image as a space of resistance to the institution, transperformativity as a political action and horror as a process for collective liberation. Sara has designed and implemented Queer educational projects in various institutional programs and public schools, including DRAG KIDS (2020), a cross-dressing session for families, or TEEN HORROR (2022), a horror film with teenagers.
