Prepare yourself for a mix of theatre, dance, circus and multidisciplinary work at WIPCOOP BXL in KVS this autumn! Brand new choreo & impro’s, images and texts, artistic research about connection, abondonment, identity, inequality, politically loaded bodies, astrology, legends, etc.
In short, save the dates for a look at what is cooking and emerging in the Brussels scene of performing arts.
Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 October 2022 Désirée Cerocien, Eli Mathieu-Bustos, Lorena Spindler, Alex Masgutov, Naïm Belhaloumi and Emiliano Cedillo each present a maximum of 30 minutes from their WORK IN PROGRESS. Afterwards, they will discuss their work and possible support in a one-hour meeting with a group of dramaturges, workshops, producers and programmers. During these breaks – Artist Talks – other artists share news about work, new initiatives or projects with the audience.
Naïm Belhaloumi blends movement, theatre and music. Departing from a feeling of abandonment, he explores the ecstasy before the catastrophe in some legends.
With FREE DANCE ESCAPE Lorena Spindler gathers dancers from different disciplines in a space – a safe, imaginary and supportive zone – in which they explore connection with the other. The idea and basis for FREE DANCE ESCAPE arise from a TikTok video.
In his work, Emiliano Cedillo questions identity and society through circus and theatre. His first solo, LA PAUVRETÉ DES PAUVRES FAIT LA RICHESSE DES RICHES, combines juggling, acrobatics, art cycling and theatre.
Eli Mathieu-Bustos is a dancer and performer whose physical virtuosity enables him to transcend the political identities that define him. HAVE A SAFE TRAVEL is part of an enquiry on the alliance between astrology and dance. Using the De Caelo technique, Eli reveals a first step.
Alex Masgutov portrays the story of a young couple coping with today’s world. From global warming to the pressure of success… SAFE IN THE HANDS OF LOVE ? A multidisciplinary performance about ‘loving the other that contributes to loving yourself’ and ‘how the intimate is political & the political intimate’.
THE SECRET CYCLES is an investigation into non-western dance codes, musicality, folklore and togetherness as a social practice of care, joy and survival. Désirée Cerocien shows the first part of a trilogy. THE SECRET CYCLES PART 1 : LA FIESTA DE LA DELFINA takes you to a birthday party somewhere in Latin America.
Work In Progress runs during the day and entrance is free.
