There are a lot of familiar faces at our next WIPCOOP: WIPCOOP Brussels 2024 x Proximamente!
A WIPCOOP-day will take place on Nov. 21 during the Proximamente Festival. The program includes works in progress and conversations with Lucía Giannoni, Ana Luz Ormazábal, Rodrigo Batista & Mariana Senne, Désirée 0100 & Luis Miguel Ramirez Muñoz and Junior Akwety & Enrique Noviello. With the exception of Lucía and Ana Luz, these artists have previously appeared in the WIPCOOP-spot lights. We look forward to seeing how their work and artistic practice have evolved. Here is a brief preview of these old friends:
Rodrigo Batista & Mariana Senne
Rodrigo Batista uses theater as a lens to examine our reality. He explores a contemporary realism shaped by six decades of neoliberalism, where illusions and misleading promises influence our worldview. In his work KIDNAPPED, he shows us how ideologies, technologies and power structures control us. After their first presentation last year at WIPCOOP Ghent, Rodrigo and Mariana are now bringing the first chapter of The Contemporary Political Landscape to WIPCOOP Brussels.

Désirée 0100 & Luis Miguel Ramirez Muñoz
Désirée and Luis collaborated on La fiesta de delfina in 2022, which focused on their dual identity and urban culture. Désirée, a dancer and choreographer, creates work around improvisation, folklore, migration and social justice. This year she also won the Roel Verniers Prize. Together with Luis, she explains her new project La Noche de Aparición, a unique dance and clown show with Mexican horror elements that will premiere in 2025.

Junior Akwety & Enrique Noviello
Junior and Enrique, familiar faces at MAP, are collaborating on LA RUMBA INTERCONTINENTAL, a project exploring the rich history and communities surrounding the Rumba. They connect Rumbero communities around the world and develop new methods for cross-cultural community building. It promises to be a unique journey through the culture and idiosyncrasy of the Rumba.
