During this year’s festival, we are hosting a WIPCOOP-day on November 21 with works in progress and/or conversations with: Lucia Giannoni(Argentina), Ana Luz Ormazábal (Chile), Rodrigo Batista (Belgium/Brazil) & Mariana Senne (Germany/Brazil), Désirée 0100 (Belgium/Mexico) & Luis Miguel Ramirez Muñoz (Belgium/Colombia) and Junior Akwety (Belgium/Congo) & Enrique Noviello (Belgium/Argentina).

On the program:

  • 10:30: Welcoming remarks
  • 11:00 – 11:30: Work In Progress “Propaganda” by Ana Luz Ormazábal
In this Chilean-German production, Ana Luz Ormazábal explores the concept of propaganda from different artistic perspectives, while analyzing its historical evolutions and current impact on political and electoral discourse worldwide. This performance, featuring six actors on stage, aims to expand our critical view of (dis)information by examining how propaganda techniques shape perceptions and sustain power dynamics in different cultures and historical periods. Propaganda is a co-production between the Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral (Chile) and the Theater und Orchester Heidelberg (Germany) and will premiere in October 2025 at the Theater of Heidelberg. Play by: Juan Pablo Troncoso, José Manuel Gatica and an invited local actress.
  • 11:30 – 12:00: 10 min break + after talk with Ana Luz Ormazábal
  • 12:00 – 12:20: Talk “La Noche de Aparición” with Désirée 0100 & Luis Miguel Ramirez Muñoz
In this talk, Désirée 0100 and Luis Miguel Ramirez Muñoz share the concept, development and inspiration behind their upcoming project La Noche de Aparición (The Night of Apparition), which will premiere in September 2025. This will be Désirée and Luis’ second creation, a clown and dance performance for three dancers. The show will explore Mexican horror aesthetics and consists of three chapters inspired by real folk tales.
  • 12:30 – 13:00: Work In Progress “Qué funcione” by Lucia Giannoni (performance)
This project is based on the concept of “belonging somewhere.” Belonging somewhere as an act of survival, as a process of identity formation. It is a performative practice of social identity and coexistence, a sociological study, an empirical test and a live field research in scenic form, focusing on diversity and the deconstruction of hegemonic structures. The project seeks to highlight the similarities, tensions and possibilities that arise when a group of people come together. What part of ourselves do we leave behind to belong to a group? And what wouldn’t we be willing or able to give up to belong?
  • 13:00 – 13:30: 10 min break + after talk with Lucia Giannoni
  • 13:30 – 14:30: Lunch
  • 14:30 – 14:50: Talk “LA RUMBA INTERCONTINENTAL” Junior Akwety & Enrique Noviello: LA RUMBA INTERCONTINENTAL is an international project that takes the cultural phenomenon of Rumba as a starting point to develop a participatory methodology for intercultural community building. Junior and Enrique actively connect various Rumbero communities in Europe, Africa and the Americas, exploring the cultural idiosyncrasies of this unique art form and their know-how for cultural participation.
  • 15:00 – 15:30: Work In Progress “The Contemporary Political Landscape” by Rodrigo Batista & Mariana Senne (18+)
Rodrigo Batista and Mariana Senne present a series of theatrical improvisations connected to the first installment of their project The Contemporary Political Landscape. Starting from the idea of theater as a means to represent and influence perceptions of reality, Rodrigo’s recent research reflects on a supposed contemporary reality (or realism), born in the postmodern era and shaped by the influence of the neoliberal regime over the past six decades. This regime has been characterized by the misleading promises of free markets, individual subjectivity and the privatization of life. As a result, we find ourselves in a landscape dominated by collective hallucinations that challenge established notions of truth and cast a pervasive shadow of doubt over our shared beliefs.
  • 15:40 – 16:00: 10 min break + after talk with Rodrigo Batista & Mariana Senne
  • 16:00 – 16:30: Closing remarks with a drink
