1 op 4 Antwerpenaren leeft onder de armoede grens
Kristien is 54 en arm. Arm, zoals 90.000 mensen arm zijn in Antwerpen. Arm zoals we allemaal denken dat we ons armoede kunnen voorstellen. Met een vochtig huis in de stad, invaliditeit en verhalen over veel te veel ongeluk voor één mensenleven. Fotografe Siska Vandecasteele & Kristien tonen met dit project dat armoede anders is dan we denken.
Op zondag 16.10.16 is er een posteractie, omdat het 17 oktober internationale dag tegen het verzet van de armoede is. Ga mee posters plakken op 16.10.16 of deel een foto op social media van een plakpaal die je tegenkomt, maar vooral sta open voor het verhaal van 1 op 4 die elke dag moet vechten tegen armoede.

Studio Urbanization ‘De wetten van de straat’
Met verschillende artiesten werd samengewerkt rond het thema ‘de wetten van de straat’. In #MAF16 tonen we enkele beelden uit de expo in BOZAR (mei) en op de opening 13.10 (19u) kan je ook een ingekorte performance hiervan zien.
Absent Images
Absent Images is a project that spreads via public canvasses in the city and throughout the country. Billboard panels, advertising spaces, empty walls or windows, they all become carriers of a political message. The message is written in a language that is not understood by most of the people in this country. It’s the language of most of the people who fled their home country. The text wants to welcome them in their own language, and is an apology for the way this welcome happened so far. We apologize for not treating all humans equally. The questioning concerning the refugee-crisis is complex, but what is sure is that the political answer at this instance is insufficient, inept and in some cases inhuman. But what about our own politics? How do “we” – people who live here, with or without papers- relate to these newcomers? How do we let ourselves be influenced by media and politics? We apologize for not speaking up.
